the DAREarts Program

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to unfold, The Magnes Group has been deeply invested in supporting the communities where we work and live. One of our chosen charities, DAREarts, has been working to ensure children and families from under-served communities have the help they need to take care of their mental health during this challenging time.

“Putting mental health first has never been more important, especially in our underserved communities, and we’re proud to support the great work that DAREarts continues to do.” says The Magnes Group CEO, Andy Sloan.

We have made a donation to provide 40 DAREarts Kits to families in need – each kit contains 10-weeks of mental wellness-focused art-based activities and supplies carefully designed to help young people express themselves, explore big feelings and practice self-care. Every kit contains an invitation to participate in DAREarts programming online where young people can connect with their peers and supportive adults for 3 hours of creative learning each week. For students without access to the internet at home, young people are invited to connect to a DAREarts staff member by phone for a supportive ear and help to work through their activity kit. Kits are being distributed through food banks, family shelters, First Nations’ communities, and other front-line child and family services across Canada.
